Competitive Dance Categories
Like most competitive sports, DanceSport has internationally recognized competitive categories, both in skill and age groups.
This allows dancers to be able to participate in a competitive atmosphere with others of equal skill level and age. It also allows participants to enter and stay competitive for a long period of time while improving themselves and evaluating that improvement.
Dance Categories
The Standard dances include Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz and Quickstep
The Latin dances include Cha Cha, Rhumba, Paso Doble, Samba and Jive.

Training for competition begins in group classes but as each couple progresses they usually find that the individual and personal attention of a DanceSport Coach is the most positive method of training and offers the advantage of being individually specific.
The Dance Centre believes in the Team concept of training both for the coaches and competitors. Most of our competitiors have several coaches who work simutaneously on their training while practice time, travel and some training is done together with other competitors.
Lectures and group training sessions for competitors are also a regular feature during the year at the centre.
